In health the baby face is expressive of serenity in mind and body.
If your child becomes unwell, this expression will be changed, and in a manner which, to a certain extent, will indicate what part of the system is at fault.
The brows on your baby face will be contracted, if there is pain and seat is in the head.
This is often the very first outcome if there is anything being wrong, and will occur at the very beginning of disease.
If proper remedies are used, its notice may prevent one of the most fearful of childish complaints “water in the headâ€.
If this disease is untreated, it is very dangerous to your child health. The symptoms of this disease are:
- The eyes will become fixed and staring
- The head becomes very hot and moved uneasily from side to side upon the pillow
- Lie heavily upon the nurse’s arm
- Grinding teeth in the sleep
- Awake alarmed and screaming
- Baby face will be flushed, especially the cheeks
- Hands becomes very hot, but feet cold
- Bowels obstinately costive or motions scanty, dark-colored, and foul
If the lips are drawn apart, so as to show the teeth or gums, it is an indication to stomach pain. This will only be present during the actual existence of suffering and if there is any doubt, press on the stomach and watch effect on the expression of the baby face.
If the pain comes from the irritation of bowels excited from indigestion, it will be temporary. The pain will go and come and slight remedies will give some relief.
If the disease become more serious and inflammation ensue, this sign will be more constantly present and soon the baby face will become pale. The child will be in alarm motion and lie upon its back with the knees bent up to the belly. The tongue will be loaded and in breathing, the chest will be seen to heave with more than usual effort and the muscles of the belly will remain perfectly quiet.
The nostrils on your baby face are drawn upward and in quick motion pain exists in the chest. This sign is due to the inflammation of the chest. In this case the baby face will be discolored, the eyes staring and the breathing will be hard and quickly.
Convulsions are generally preceded by some changes in the baby face. The upper lip will be drawn up and becomes bluish or livid. You can observe rotation of eye upon its own axis, flushing and paleness of the baby face and sudden move followed by laziness.
These symptoms will sometimes will be noticeable themselves before the attack occurs. The eye condition is always being observed. If your child is in good health, eyes are clear and bright, but in disease they become dull. This sign on baby face is a good indication for a disease to appear.
You should also observe the direction of eyes. When your child is first brought to the light, both eyes are only just directed to the same object. If your child looses the tendency of looking at one object then it is an indication of the disease. In this case you have to seek medical advice.
