One of the fun things of the preparations for the baby is to choose baby furniture. This usually requires some planning, and every parent is trying to do their best to have a nice nursery. There are numerous types to choose from, but not all of them work for everybody.
Beds
This is one of the most important pieces of furniture that the parents have to be thinking about because the baby is going to sleep in it. In this case you have two main options: cot beds and cots.
Cot beds and cots are about the same; the only difference is that the cot beds can also be used as the little one turns to be a toddler. This is done by taking the sides off. According to this you can use the same piece of furniture for a longer period of time.
In case you don’t mind changing the bed after the first couple of years, then you could go for the cot. On the other hand you can use the cot bed for about 5-6 years.
Dressers and changing tables
It is also important to think about the place where the parents are going to change the diapers. Just as in the previous case you have two options: changing dressers and changing tables.
The changing table is a table with a mat on it and a shelf while the changing dresser is a more complex version of the changing table. This looks like a dressing table, and it also comes with cabinets and drawers.
The changing table needs to be upgraded as the little one grows, while the changing dresser could be changed into a regular dresser, making its life span a lot longer.
Nursery storage
In case of child’s furniture the nursery storage is quite important. In most of the cases, people go for the wardrobe, but there are some other options as well. For instance you could be thinking about bedside cabinets, dressers, and storage boxes. Usually the nursery wardrobes come with drawers and hanging space that for sure you will be using for the clothing of the little one.
Finishes and materials
In the majority of the cases the furniture for the nursery is made of wood, some artificial materials or veneers. While furniture made of wood is more expensive, it is more durable so you can use it for a longer period of time. On the other hand if you don’t opt for wood, there are also some advantages. These kinds of furniture are lighter than the wood ones, and they are also durable enough to last until the little one grows up and needs new furniture with adult design.
You might be thinking that kids’ furniture incurs a lot of expenses, but if you choose wise you could find some items that last for a long period of time, look good and make the little one happy. Remember that the child will spend a lot of time in his or her room.
