Your Guide to Baby Cloth Diapers

Although you may think that it is easy to find baby cloth diapers, you should know that there are a lot of different types that could make the decision quite overwhelming. There are some that are perfect for some of the babies and for some of the situations, but aren’t suitable for the others.

Baby Cloth Diapers

Different kinds of baby diapers made of cloth

These are something like the disposable diapers, but you don’t have to throw them away after each use. They come with a waterproof outer layer while in the inside there is a layer that can hold wetness and that is made of different kinds of absorbent and soft materials.

The best thing about these cloth baby diapers is that there is no need for a diaper cover or diaper pin. This means that they are easily used and if you have some experience with disposable diapers, for sure you won’t have any problems with using this kind of diapers.

Fitted diaper

These are something like the previous baby cloth diapers, but they are a bit more economical. These diapers don’t need to be folded to be secured around the baby’s waist, but they need a diaper cover because they don’t have a waterproof cover and wetness could seep through.

One-size diapers

Just as the name suggests in case of these baby cloth nappies, there is only one size for each baby. The diapers come with a snapping system that you can adjust as the baby grows. The only problem with the diapers is that there is a lot of bulk in case of the smaller babies.

On the other hand, the advantage of the baby cloth diapers is that once you buy a few diapers of this kind, you won’t have to worry about diapers ever again in your home. Just like the previous kind of diaper, they don’t always come with a waterproof layer, so you might need a cover.

Pocket diapers

This is the kind of baby nappies made of cloth that can handle different levels of absorption. This means that since the baby is more often changed during the day, it is enough to insert a microfiber insertion and it will do the job.

During the night, the babies spend more time in their diapers. Since during the night the baby cloth diapers need a higher level of absorption, you just need to insert a prefold diaper or a thicker insert. These diapers are something like the disposable diapers that have wrap tabs around the waist of the baby and close with a snap or Velcro.

Prefold diapers

These are the most economical and most basic cloth baby nappies that you can find. However, you will require some time to get used to them. You have to learn the folding technique. Once you get a hold of it, you will be able to change the diapers very fast.

Now you know more about the different kinds of baby cloth diapers and you will know which one to choose.
