Infant Car Seat No Substitute For A Baby Crib

infant car seatResearchers say that infant car seats that save lives in traffic accidents should not be used as a substitute for baby crib. They found infant car seats that are used as substitutes for crib poses increased risk of respiratory problems in healthy newborns.

Newborns are required to be placed upright in infant car seats that could certainly compress the chest walls of baby when compared with sleeping flat in a baby crib. This particular position reduces the oxygen levels they are able to breathe.

Therefore, use of such devices should be restricted to protection of death and injury in traffic collisions and they should be never used as replacement for a baby crib. Additionally, further modifications of infant car safety devices are clearly needed to reduce respiratory issues that had been consistently encountered in current models.
